Calgary set to celebrate biodiversity

Alberta is proud of its biodiversity, and a celebration of its flora, fauna and other organisms will bring an extra touch of fun to autumn’s arrival.

Calgary’s Bow Habitat Station has plans in the works for a day of activities that it hopes will be both fun and educational for all those who come out. Many of the offerings will be hands on, and it will take place at 1440 17A Street SE.

The facility will welcome all for this special event focused on biodiversity. There will be a variety of exhibits to visit, and the attendees can view the microscopic world found in a drop of water, take part in a scavenger hunt, meet a friendly falcon, make a bat craft, learn about prairie grasses, brush up on their fish ID by “building a trout’ and try their hand at the other experiences.

Along with the rest of the fun, the celebration will see the participants head for home with a variety of items. These include wildflower seeds, trout pins, field guides and other Corporate Gifts. The venue is accessible to those who require a mobility device such as a wheelchair, and certified service animals are welcome.

This showcase of the plants, animals and the organisms that call Alberta home will be held in September. More details about the dates and timings will be released to the public soon.
