Winter can be a time for the home gardener to plan and dream about the growing season to come, and an online Calgary workshop may give them tips to incorporate in their own property’s landscape.
The Calgary Horticultural Society has scheduled a learning opportunity for early February, and it will be all about increasing biodiversity. A keynote speaker will be included in the day, and his presentation will be followed by three talks with different scheduled start times.
The session will open with a lecture from Lyndon Penner, who will be discussing how moths can be important pollinators that are often overlooked. After this, there will be speakers discussing how urban residents can support biodiversity, options for turf lawn alternatives and also how choosing native plants can invite birds into the garden. A door prize draw has also been included in the schedule. Both members and non-members may register for the day.
Horticultural and garden clubs give those who love to get their hands in the soil the chance to connect with, and learn from, their fellow green thumbs as well as subject matter experts. Membership application Forms, promotional leaflets and other materials for a not for profit group can be prepared by a brochure printing company.
The Calgary Horticultural Society will be offering its Think Spring day on February 8th. It will take place online, and a link to join will be set to each registrant.
