Evacuees from Fort McMurray who have been temporarily relocated to Calgary are invited to come to one of its best-known attractions, free of charge.
The Calgary Zoo is offering displaced residents of Fort Mac free admission to its facilities. It hopes that by doing so, it will be able to offer them a welcome break and a chance to take their minds off what they have been through for a little while.
According to zoo spokesperson Trix Exton-Parder, in the first week that the no charge admission was offered, at least 300 people were able to make use of it. She went on to say that many of these people have a long road ahead of them, and the zoo was glad to be able to give them a chance to enjoy themselves and be a bright spot in their day.
The no-cost admission will continue to be offered to residents of Fort McMurray up until the end of June. All that is required is that they bring along some form of form of ID that indicates they are from that city. Flyers can be distributed to effectively promote offers like this to those who will be able to make use of them.
