Calgary couple makes winter easier for new parents

A couple from Calgary has come up with an idea that they hope will make it easier for parents to navigate their stroller though the snow and slush of an icy Canadian winter.

According to inventor Kelly Patterson, the device attaches to the front wheels of a stroller, allowing it to glide over the snow. She joked to a reporter from the CBC that this will allow parents to get out and enjoy fresh air and exercise, baby or toddler in tow.

Ms. Patterson and her husband Glenn, who is an engineer, first thought up the idea when their first child was small. They found it difficult to navigate their own stroller through the winter conditions, and began searching for a better way of doing things. They came up with Polar Stroller skis.

The cost for the skis ranges between $150 to $170, and they can be purchased online. A company that provides marketing services will be able to assist entrepreneurs like the Pattersons with everything form logo deign to printed advertising, Packaging and more.

These new devices clamp over the wheels, and can be adjusted to fit ones of most any size. They pointed out that it’s easier than pulling a small child in a sled. The skis have traction on them so that they won’t slide back, and have a built in safety leash which can be attached to a parent’s wrist.
