Young people invited to apply for sports subsidies

A programme offering sports subsidies to assist young people across the City of Brimbank, including Tullamarine, is calling for applications.

The subsidy programme, called In2Sport, is on offer from Brimbank City Council. It was introduced to encourage the area's youth to take part in sports despite barriers such as financial constraints, according to Mayor of Brimbank Ranka Rasic, who added:

“This year we’re supporting families financially impacted by COVID-19, and also females, first time applicants and people living with disability by giving them priority access to apply.”

Rasic said In2Sport targets kids aged 6 to 18, and each successful participant can apply for financial assistance up to a total of $200, or three-quarters of fees required to join a club.

The period for the submission of priority applications began on February 1. Other applicants will be invited to apply as from February 22.

Non-profit sports clubs in Brimbank are also eligible to apply for In2Sport programme registration. Sports clubs in the programme receive each of the successful applicants’ subsidy directly from Brimbank City. Council initiatives such as this have often been advertised across the community via flyer printing campaigns.

Applicants must live within the City of Brimbank to apply, and the sports club is required to be a not-for-profit entity.

A full list of requirements necessary to apply for the priority subsidy, together with the online application form, are available on the council's website.
