Tullamarine Bus Lines to get new owners

The 48-year-old Tullamarine Bus Lines family business may soon change hands, following the placement of a purchasing deposit by CDC Victoria, paid last Thursday, April 12.

CDC Victoria is a subsidiary of ComfortDelGro, a transport company with a huge global footprint. The blue and orange Logo Design of the company can be seen on taxis in many countries in Australia, the United Kingdom, China and South East Asia. This purchase will serve to further strengthen the company’s presence in Australia.

A spokesperson from CDC Victoria has revealed that the company is in a share sale agreement with Tullamarine Bus Lines, where completion of the sale will only happen after they receive regulatory approval. The company is already running 74 route bus services within Ballarat, Geelong, and the eastern and western suburbs in Melbourne. According to CDC Victoria, following the finalisation of the acquisition, the company will run a fleet of almost 500 buses, and operate a total of 81 route bus services.

Sikarvitsas, the founder of Tullamarine Bus Lines, moved to Australia in 1956 and started out as a driver before joining the Kastoria Bus Lines partnership, which later dissolved in 1970. Tullamarine Bus Lines was then founded by Sikavitsas within the same year, and has since provided bus services to people in the North West of Melbourne.
