As part of a celebrated food festival, a dining experience that delves into military cuisine will soon take place in Melbourne.
An event designed to appeal to food fanatics and military history buffs alike is coming to the coastal capital this autumn. Residents of Tullamarine and other suburbs nearby will be able to participate in a special dinner based on military meals as part of the 2025 edition of the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival 2025.

Dubbed “Dine at the Shrine”, this one-of-a-kind dining event combines military history with culinary delights. Those attending will sit down to a cleverly curated three-course menu designed by Peter Rowland that was inspired by the Shrine’s recent exhibition called “Taste of Combat: The Evolution of Military Food”. The exhibit reveals tales of feeding troops in service.
With reference from catering in the military, diners can enjoy a meal that combines gastronomic flair with military ingenuity. In between courses, they will hear gripping accounts from veterans who have cooked for troops everywhere from battle zones to submarines, and guests will have an exclusive look before dinner at the new exhibition.
