Tullamarine airport announces customer service awards

Melbourne Airport at Tullamarine is one of the busiest travel hubs in the world. The vast complex of national and international terminals employs over 20,000 individuals in all kinds of businesses that range well beyond those involved in

flight arrivals and departures. Temporary workspaces, retail stores and restaurants are just a few of the other operations to be found across the airport. This busy economic environment offers a great deal of scope for exchanging Business Cards, promotional Pens and other Corporate Gifts.

The airport’s management have this year shown their appreciation for the importance of quality customer service with this announcement of the Melbourne Airport Excellence Awards. Head of Corporate Communications Grant Smith told Australian Aviation that the awards

"Cover all aspects of the traveller experience, from the customer service received when arriving at the airport, through check-in to retail and hospitality, security screening and air travel."

The awards allow visitors as well as workers at the airport to nominate anyone they think has shown excellence in customer service, with the main winner receiving a grand prize of $5,000. In 2018 over 150 nominations were received for high quality customer interactions by baristas, airport lounge staff, volunteer workers and more.

This year’s eventual winner was Atul Sharma of Menzies Aviation, an airport services company which handles fuelling, cargo and several other key operations.
