Search on for bold new writers

The search is on for bold new producers and writers in Victoria.

New funding for the Stan and Film Victoria Development Fund was announced at the end of last month enabling the two major companies to push ahead with the two-year programme.

The initiative will target producers and writers from throughout the state, including Tullamarine and enable the development of an estimated four high-end projects each year to go before the streaming platform Stan for commissioning consideration.

Both established and new creative talents will be eligible to take part in the scheme, which hopes to uncover fresh, original stories and new perspectives. The fund provides a vehicle by which Stan can build on its worldwide reputation for producing ground-breaking comedies and innovative dramas.

Stan’s Originals roster of quality shows is impressive and includes two seasons of Wolf Creek and Romper Stomper, which is a multi-Logie Award winning series. The first original Stan series No Activity, which is now a hit series in the US starring Bob Odenkirk and Will Ferrell.

Stan CEO Mike Sneesby said applications will close on January 29, 2019, adding:

“This new partnership with Film Victoria and the Victorian production sector is an important step in further developing the local production industry.”

Stan’s innovative dramas also include Bloom which is set to premiere on New Year’s Day and stars Bryan Brown, Jackie Weaver, Ryan Corr and Phoebe Tonkin. Many shows and premieres are advertised through the use of poster printing.
