Progressive dinner to feature focus on Vietnamese cuisine in Sunshine

Traditional Vietnamese food will be on the menu for participants in the 2016 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival’s progressive dinner.

The Sunshine district’s Pho Fever, which represents a celebration of the country’s traditional noodle soup, returns to the festival thanks to the Sunshine Business Association and the support of Brimbank Council.

Residents and businesses from Tullamarine and surrounding areas are urged to include the event on their Calendars and take part in the four-course progressive dinner, which will provide participants with an opportunity to venture behind the scenes and meet chefs at various local restaurants.

Local dining outlets taking part in the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival event include Phu Vinh, Pho Hien Saigon, Xuan Banh Cuon, Thien Nhi, Vu Gia, Queens Rose the Sun, Codo, Thuan Anh, 2 Sisters and Bo Ba Tea.

Owner of the Pho Hien Saigon Restaurant Cung Nguyen said Pho Fever had attracted diners from as far and wide as Ballarat and Bendigo in recent years, as well as interstate visitors from Adelaide.

The long-time chef said it was always great to welcome new people into Sunshine, especially first-time visitors who had not tried the menu previously.

He added that Signs will help newcomers identify participating restaurants and, as the meal featured four courses, everyone will leave feeling fully satisfied.

Nguyen said the festival, which takes place on March 10, also provided an opportunity to showcase the area’s fine food, bakeries and Asian groceries.
