Online service streamlines job search at Melbourne airport

Jobseekers in Tullamarine, Victoria, are benefitting from a new initiative introduced by Melbourne Airport.

In conjunction with the Department of Employment and Hume City Council, a new Joblink site has been launched specifically for use by locals seeking employment in and around the airport.

The CEO of Melbourne Airport, Chris Woodruff, said the idea of introducing the Joblink website was to provide easy access to employment opportunities in the area.

He said in excess of 200 businesses were based or carried out operations at Melbourne Airport, ranging from catering and cabinet making to nursing and project management.

The Joblink site lists airport and surrounding area jobs advertised on the websites of employment companies or local organisations.

Melbourne Airport is the Hume City Council area’s largest employment centre and, as such, it provides a host of jobs for residents.

Mayor Adem Atmaca said the new, easily accessible website would be a great asset for the area’s jobseekers and provide them with an easy one-stop site to access a host of positions currently available in the marketplace.

He said instead of visiting multiple sites, they would be able to find various activities in the one place.

As well as the website and media coverage, the airport has used printing services to spread the word about the new resource for those seeking employment.
