New water park to open in Tullamarine

A new surf park, URBNSURF Melbourne, has been planned for Tullamarine, which is approximately 30 minutes from the city centre.

Aquatically active Melbournians, especially Tullamarine residents, will then be able to enjoy surfing without having to visit the beach.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the park is known as the ‘Wavegarden Cove’ – a 2.1-hectare artificial wave pool that can pump out a thousand two-metre waves per hour. The waves produced by the lagoon are suitable for surfers of all levels, including beginners. Also included in the plans for the new precinct are fitness classes, a surfing academy, and various food and beverages outlets.

The water park precinct is predicted to cost $20m and is estimated to be ready for the public in Easter 2019. Once in business, URBNSURF Melbourne will create around 300 jobs and is estimated to provide a $267m boost to the Melbourne economy.

URBNSURF Sydney and Perth are also both in the planning stage, but these parks are expected to open much later than the URBNSURF Melbourne.

Those interested should look out for more updated news on the actual opening date closer to Easter 2019. Often, water park management teams perform banner printing and display around their parks near to opening dates, so people looking forward to the new attraction should keep their eyes peeled.
