New route for air travel by Qantas

Qantas has resumed its direct service between Tullamarine and Newcastle after a decade-long hiatus, taking advantage of an altered domestic travel scene courtesy of the pandemic.

The direct route, which launched in mid-March, will see 12 return flights each week operated on a 717 aircraft. According to QantasLink CEO John Gissing, the flights are expected to be popular with corporate and leisure travellers alike. He believes that work travellers will enjoy the route’s peak time flight scheduling and premium service, while tourists will benefit from additional flexibility when planning a visit to the Hunter region. He added:

“These new services will provide more options for Victorians to access the beautiful coastal city of Newcastle, as well as the world-class wineries of the Hunter Valley.”

It is also expected that the direct flight and its timing will enhance the ability for connections to other flights and destinations within the Qantas network.

With other airlines also covering the route, Qantas’ distinctive red and white flying kangaroo is not the only tail marking to be seen flying between Melbourne and Newcastle. Business owners can use their Logo Design, such as the airline’s flying kangaroo, to make their businesses instantly recognised.

The increased capacity for the Tullamarine to Newcastle route comes as the City of Newcastle hosts an action-packed month in April, including Newcastle Food Month, Newcastle Seafood Festival, the Rip Curl Newcastle Cup World Surf League event and the NewRun Newcastle Festival of Running.
