There is still time to tantalise the taste buds as the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival moves into its final few days.
The festival, which runs until Sunday March 17th, is a must-visit event for everyone from beginner cooks to foodies who love trying new ingredients.
Tullamarine residents will find plenty to do around central Melbourne in the festival’s final week and might like to venture further out into the region for some of the other events.
Anyone with a sweet tooth should book in for afternoon tea at Aria’s at The Langham on Melbourne’s South Bank tomorrow to experience chef Alistair Wise’s creations, including old-fashioned sweets and cakes. Those who would like to try making something can learn to make a French croque-en-bouche at Casa and Bottega in North Melbourne on Saturday.
Wine and spirit connoisseurs were also well served yesterday as Alumbra in Docklands offered tastings of Scottish single malt, Ardberg along with canapés and an Ardberg cocktail. Today, The Deanery will host a discussion about wine along with tasting sessions of naturally and traditionally made varieties.
The demonstrations and tastings will no doubt encourage people to buy more cookbooks, a staple of any book printing company business, and the farmer’s market at the historic Smythesdale Precinct on the festival’s closing weekend provides the perfect opportunity to buy some fresh produce from local growers with which to try some new dishes.
