Bulla Hill Railway open day coming up

An open day is being held by Bulla Hill Railway this October, allowing the public to visit and explore.

The Tullamarine Live Steam Society runs the railway, which is manned by voluntary enthusiasts with an interest in miniature steam, electric or diesel locomotives. Guests will be given the opportunity to take a ride on a miniature steam train, which may incorporate the club’s Logo Design. The ride will last around 10 minutes and is situated over a 1.5 kilometre track.

The railway runs 7, 5 and 3 gauge steam and diesel trains. All drivers are fully trained and accredited with the Australian Association of Live Steamers and have a valid Working With Children check.

Bulla Hill Railway is situated in a large area of parkland and offers facilities such as coin operated, community barbeques, a council owned children’s playground, a kiosk and picnic tables for those who choose to bring their own food.

Officially opened on March 4th, 2000, the club has a long history going back to 1974 when locomotive enthusiasts began to look for a suitable site in the north-western suburbs of Melbourne. A not-for-profit organisation, all funds raised will be put back into maintaining and improving the infrastructure of the miniature railway.

Entry to the railway is free with train tickets $3 per person, per ride. The railway will be open on Sunday 20th October from midday until 4pm.
