Narre Community Learning Centre launches 2012 program
Starting on 6 February 2012, Narre Community Learning Centre (Narre CLC) has launched its Term One program with a wide variety of new courses and classes.
Narre CLC is based in Narre Warren, in 1981 it began providing services as “Narre Neighbours” with 35 students and an annual budget of around $2000. The website now reports that they have around 2200 enrolments and provide services at three different locations with an annual budget of over $1.2 million.
Placed firmly in the middle of the South Eastern growth corridor, Narre CLC has been able to expand its services from a small community based support network into a fully-fledged Registered Training Organisation and can therefore run accredited short courses along with general interest, child and youth programs.
Highlights of the new program include Certificate III courses in Children’s Services, Aged Care or Business, First Aid, Food Safety and Responsible Service of Alcohol.
For youth who may be struggling at school, Narre CLC offers limited places in a Certificate in General Education for Adults and Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning.
Computer courses are for beginners and experienced users and include selling on eBay, spread sheets, digital photography and learning how to prepare documents for flyer, poster or banner printing in the new Camera to Computer - working with Visual Media Course along with the Create your own Flyers or Cards - Basic Course.
The neighbourhood house and general interest programs include craft, cooking, cake decorating and meditation.
Enrolment forms are available on their website: www.narreclc.net.au
