Springvale is set to welcome in the Chinese Year of the Horse at the annual Lunar New Year Festival in February.
Planning is already well underway for the event, which will coincide with the lunar year’s first full moon and run simultaneously with celebrations around the globe. Locally, the festivities will take place at the Springvale Shopping Centre, which is also home to the daily market.
The colourful spectacles of previous years will return along with eye-catching martial arts displays, Asian inspired cuisine, lion and dragon dances, cultural performances, and games and rides for the kids. Stalls will also sell exotic, traditional and contemporary foods. It’s a festive program to be enjoyed by those of all ages.

As the region has a sizeable Asian population, Springvale’s festival is one of the most well-attended in the country. It attracts around 70,000 people each year from all over Australia.
Visitors will find it easy to join in with the entertainment, culture and fun. It runs from 9:00am to 9:00pm on February 3 and then continues for 15 activity-filled days.
The festival is well located with ample parking options, including a new multi-level car-park in Buckingham Avenue. Those travelling by public transport are also catered for with the train station adjacent.
