Artist Nyaruot Ruth Ruach is coming to Springvale Library to talk about African jewellery making as part of the Greater Dandenong Libraries and Walker Street Gallery Art Series.
Nyaruot Ruth Ruach is from South Sudan. As a multidisciplinary artist, Ruach uses art to heal, to explore her identity within African culture and her surroundings, and to create dialogue about being a woman of colour.
The workshop encourages learning not only about the art of making of African jewellery, but also about women from African cultures. Using the workshop to create conversation, Ruach will share the story behind beads to signify wealth, status, sub-culture groups, maturity or femininity.
During the one-and-a-half-hour workshop, common themes regarding women of colour will be explored, with the opportunity to generate conversation and challenge standards around African culture and the place of women within it.
Even though most workshops such as this are marketed online, promoting artistic and one-time workshops can also benefit from local advertising. Flyers are a good way to do this as they can have an eye-catching design and can be distributed at various locations within a community.
The African jewellery workshop will be held at Springvale Library, which is located at 411 Springvale Road in Springvale on Tuesday 10th March. It will take place from 6.30pm to 8pm. While this workshop is free to attend, bookings are preferred.Get a Free Quote for Flyers
