The popular band is known by many Melburnians for its celebratory performances at Australia Day events, Anzac Day marches and the Australian National Band Championships. Music events like these are often publicised throughout Melbourne with the assistance of poster printing services.
The special cabaret show, dubbed ‘Heroes v Villains’, will feature well known anthems of loved and loathed characters from film and Broadway performed by vocal soloists, ensembles and the Springvale Brass – the band’s training program. Band spokeswoman Cassi de Lacy-Vawdon said:
"The talented band of over 40 musicians are getting set to put on a fantastic show that will have you singing along.”
She noted the performance, which will be the band’s eighth consecutive cabaret show, is to be the final under current music director Michael Mathers, who is moving to Tasmania with his family later this year.
Mathers’ departure will sadly several other feature players at the Springvale show end their spell with the Greater Dandenong Band, with his daughter Hannah being a regular in the brass section. Wife Nicole and her daughter Maddi have made appearances within the band too.
The event takes place at the Springvale Town Hall on Saturday, June 30.
