Search for new Arts Advisory Board members

Nominations from experienced community members in Springvale and across Greater Dandenong are being called to take up three key roles on the Arts Advisory Board.

Greater Dandenong Council is seeking people who possess demonstrated commitment, expertise or experience in cultural, arts or performing arts activities.

The council-run Arts Advisory Board is an important body that supports and aids the vision for culture and arts, while also providing strategic independent advice and input to the council.

When nominating for the role, expertise or experience in a number of other areas will also be favourably viewed. This ranges from cultural tourism, government and marketing to sponsorship, fundraising, finance and business. Artists are also urged to apply. In addition, applications are encouraged from all backgrounds and sectors of the community.

According to a council media statement, the Arts Advisory Board plays a vital role within the council's Arts and Cultural Heritage Strategy, which was developed to help support the overall vision that:

"Greater Dandenong is a safe, vibrant city of opportunity for all - to visit, work and play."

The strategy acts as a guide to the efforts of the council to grow, support and promote cultural heritage and arts in the city.

Community members have enjoyed a wide range of the city's cultural and arts activities held over the years, with many having been the subject of flyer printing campaigns to heighten awareness and attendances.

The council will offer remuneration for successful applicants, whose appointments will run until March 2023. Nominations will be accepted until November 22.
