Residents of Springvale, Victoria, will be dressing in their ski gear for a trip to the city’s central shopping district in July, as the 2015 Snow Fest slides into action.
Snow from the Mt Butler ski slopes will be shipped in for the event, which has become one of the most awaited on the Springvale calendar of annual highlights since its inception three years ago.
Hosted by the City of Greater Dandenong, the event is free and full of fun experiences, according to organisers, who added the Springvale Snow Fest literally transforms Buckingham and Balmoral avenues in the centre of town into a winter wonderland.
Forty tonnes of real and simulated snow will be part of the backdrop.
Organisers said up to 25,000 people were expected to attend the snow fest, which would also include markets, community and food stalls, family fireworks, roving entertainers, and live performances on stage.
Special children’s activities, moving rides, ice sculpting and falling snow effects will also be on offer.
Organisers said stage performances would be ongoing from midday, including the Popcorn cover band at 1.20pm and Pink Cadillac Band at 4.30pm, with fireworks to provide an explosive finale at 6.50pm.
Flyer and poster printing is in full swing to ensure residents don’t miss the special Sunday in the snow on July 19th.
