Budding film directors from Springvale, and around Greater Dandenong, are being invited to submit entries for a new film festival being held in the city.
The Short Cuts Film Festival is being run by the City of Greater Dandenong Council and is designed to support the local film industry, as well as introduce young people to filmmaking.
There will be three categories catering for people with varying levels of experience. The Community and Student category will be open to all primary and secondary school pupils, and any residents with no professional film training, while the Emerging section is for film students or recent graduates with less than five years’ experience. The final category is the Open section, which is offered to professional filmmakers.
The council is also searching for a part-time curator for the festival who will be responsible for helping to judge the entries alongside the Urban Screen Coordinator and decide on the final programme.
The curator could also help organise the promotional material for the festival, which could include poster printing to advertise each of the screenings.
The deadline for entries is Friday, January 15, and the films will be shown in April 2016 on the big screen in Harmony Square.
