The search has recently been on for stallholders and performance groups to participate in the 23rd Springvale Lunar New Year Festival.
The event, which attracts thousands of people to Springvale, Victoria, will next year celebrate the Year of the Goat.
Due to the large attendance flocking to the festival each year, the City of Greater Dandenong has now assumed an active role in staging the event, working in partnership with the Springvale Asian Business Association.
Along with the crowds, the programme of entertainment and activities has also grown to include sideshow amusements, large-scale carnival rides, a wide range of market stalls, top cultural acts from the local community and beyond, and in excess of 50 food vendors providing a multicultural flavour.
Second only in size to Melbourne’s Lunar New Year celebrations, the Springvale festival to be held on February 15th, 2015 has also become the largest public event in the City of Greater Dandenong, according to Mayor Sean O’Reilly.
Poster printing featuring the event helps attract more families to the celebrations.
He said that due to the festival’s ability to attract large crowds of people from all areas of Melbourne, it provided a great opportunity to show the visitors how Springvale has changed.
Those wishing to have a stall at the 2015 event had until December 10th to apply. Community and professional performance groups wishing to take part are also encouraged to contact the council.
