The 2017 Springvale Lunar New Year Festival will liven up the streets of Springvale, Victoria this month.
Organised and presented by the Springvale Asian Business Association (SABA), the annual event is circled on lunar Calendars as among the most significant.
According to a festival organiser, the celebration is a tradition of people from Japan, Korea, Cambodia, Vietnam, and China but is also open to members of the general public who will be able to feast on its colour and spectacle.
He said the Springvale community has come out in force to take part in the festival in previous years and it is hoped the same will happen on January 22 between 10:00 am and 10:00 pm when Balmoral and Buckingham Avenues in Central Springvale will light up with the sound and sights of the 2017 festival.
The colourful programme will also celebrate the Year of the Rooster, which is the Chinese zodiac’s tenth sign and advocates an energetic and fast year for all.
The festival organisers said the Springvale Lunar New Year Festival, being held for the 25th year, also celebrates the merging of Asian traditions and culture with Greater Dandenong’s multicultural landscape.
He said visitors will enjoy a market experience with in excess of 50 stalls on display, plus a dazzling lineup of entertainment that will include a live band, martial arts, dancing, rides and games.
