Springvale business proprietors will be in the running for recognition by their peers and the public as part of a new awards programme soon to be introduced.
The Greater Dandenong Chamber Business Awards are set to replace the long-established Premier Regional Business Awards, which held its final gala dinner marking its 25th year on April 13 at Springvale’s Sandown Greyhounds.
Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce President Paul Broom said the night was a great success, with 400 local business representatives in attendance.
He paid tribute to the support given by small business to the Chamber and events such as the awards, claiming their joint commitment strengthened local businesses standing within the community.
Broom said it was hoped the introduction of the new awards would assist to bolster chamber membership. A number of marketing services, including flyer printing, are expected to be used to attract public votes for the retailers locals believe should be nominated for an award.
He added that local businesses that have been nominated will feature at regularly held Greater Dandenong Chamber Business Awards breakfasts, and the final award will be presented later in the year.
The new awards will see the focus change from a regional perspective to a more specific focus on Greater Dandenong, according to the Chamber President, who stressed that the Chamber’s vision is to promote growth through civic involvement, networking, support programmes and leadership.
