Libraries offer new 24-hour online resource for members
Staff from Dandenong and Springvale, Victoria, libraries have been busy showing members how to operate a new online portal that provides direct access to library resources.
Introduced in December, The Vault is available continuously through an online gateway giving avid readers a direct line to the libraries’ vast collections of works, as well as many online resources.
A Greater Dandenong council spokesman said it meant library membership could be used anytime and from anywhere via the website.
All ages are catered for at The Vault, which is specifically tailored to meet the broad needs of everyone in the community from children to students, families and local businesses.
The spokesman said the Vault offered something to interest, engage and inspire everyone, including an innovative search function that brought up resources such as magazines, newspapers, leading ejournals, encyclopaedias and detailed databases, all at the touch of a button.
The business community has not been left out, as The Vault provides a number of software and technology tutorials, as well as taxation information.
Changes to services can be publicised using flyer and poster printing, attracting residents to come and try out the new facility.
Easy access to games, interactive activities and books is on offer for families with young children, while online reference tools can benefit language learners and students with everything from writing skills to their study regime.
