Members of each of the state’s 38 career stations were required to complete designated training in Road Crash Rescue Support (RCRS).
Manager of CFA operations, Craig Brownlie explained the training provided important skills to firefighters across Victoria and illustrated that the CFA went beyond being a firefighting authority. He added:
“Our crews often respond to a variety of incidents, as well as EMR and motor vehicle collisions. The training has given our career firefighters the important skills required to provide access to trapped motorists as quickly and as safely as possible.”
Brownlie said that if staff were required to attend vehicle collisions, the training would enable them to be better equipped to help communities. The new equipment enables firefighters to provide glass management, stabilisation and early access for members of Ambulance Victoria before primary rescue providers arrive.
The fire brigade’s Logo Design has been a familiar sight in Springvale since as early as 1958 when the first fire station was established. It has since been relocated and now occupies new, spacious and modern premises on Clarke Road.
