An opportunity for film makers, new and established, to leave their mark on the City of Dandenong, including Springvale is now available with the recent call for entries into the Short Cuts Film Festival.
The annual event is held to celebrate storytelling, community and art by providing accomplished professionals, emerging artists and community members from throughout the world with an artistic platform on which to share individual stories.
Film makers will be vying for cash prizes totalling more than $5,000 across several categories including Emerging (for recent or current film graduates), Community/Student (Secondary and primary school students and others with no training in professional filmmaking) and finally, the Open category for filmmaking professionals.
The thought of one day having the title of Filmmaker on Business Cards may also inspire some of Dandenong City’s younger members to take part in a special course. In conjunction with the 2019 Film Festival, the city’s youth aged 15 to 25 are being invited to take part in the Short Cuts Film Production Programme, being held for the first time this year.
Participants will use professional-grade resources and equipment to create a short film on the theme ‘Home’ as well as learn about project management, editing, acting, script writing and camera skills.
The films will form part of a special Shorter Cuts 2019 programme due to screen on October 6. Entries in the Greater Dandenong Short Cuts Film Festival will close on July 2.Get a Free Quote for Business Cards
