Art enthusiasts from Caringbah and across the Sutherland Shire have an opportunity to experience a unique exhibition that showcases a variety of artworks created by top HSC students in the area.
Students of visual arts at the higher school certificate level have contributed 24 outstanding artworks to the Art Rules show, which is currently on display at Gymea's Hazelhurst Arts Centre.
The art pieces in the exhibition reflect the many events of 2020 and the ways they have impacted the individual artists. They cover a range of issues, such as environmental change, natural disasters, multiculturalism and COVID-19 lockdown impacts, along with personal passions and interests ranging from dance, celebrities and film to space exploration.
Bethany College student Zoe Ball, whose painting “Australian Resilience: From the Ashes” saw her awarded the Encouragement Award, focused her artwork on the devastating bushfires of early 2020 and their ultimate impact on the environment and people it affected.
Sutherland's St Patrick's College student Cameron Talbot-Smith captured images using a drone to present his photo-media display entitled “Continental Extremities”, which illustrated the extremities of the country's landscape, extending from the outback to the coast through flood and drought.
Exhibitions that have great community input such as this have often been publicised via flyer printing campaigns targeting the local area. Art Rules, which is free to enter, will be open from 10am to 5pm daily until January 17, 2021 at the Hazelhurst Arts Centre.
