Caringbah locals who have some unwanted goods they would like to get rid of could think about signing up for this year’s Garage Sale Trail.
The nationwide event comprises a series of garage or roadside sales co-ordinated on a website, so that people can plan a route around their area.
As well as being a good way of de-cluttering and making money, the event is also designed to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill by encouraging people to sell on their unwanted goods rather than just throwing them away.
Last year, more than 120 garage sales were registered around the Sutherland Shire, among the thousands that took place across the country.
There is also the potential for local sport clubs or community groups to raise funds for their activities by working together to organise a larger sale. Residents of the same street can also group together to host a number of stands along their road to encourage more visitors.
Flyer printing and poster printing are low-cost ways to advertise events such the Trail, meaning less is spent on promotion and a greater profit can be made.
The Garage Sale Trail takes place on Saturday, October 25th. Events can be registered now on the national website, and the Sutherland Shire council also has an information pack to help vendors make the most of their day.
