Children in Caringbah, New South Wales and throughout the Sutherland Shire are being urged to take advantage of a wide range of activities as part of the inaugural Shire Kids Festival.
Mayor Carmelo Pesce said the festival was introduced to provide school holiday events that allow families to see, explore, create and take part in fun activities close to home.
She said 10 council venues are hosting over 30 events and participants will also have an opportunity to win some great prizes.
The festival features events, activities and exhibitions at which kids can obtain a passport as well as a venue sticker and complete a secret question. They will be able to enter the competition once they have collected four secret answers and unique stickers.
According to the Mayor, there will be lots of highlights such as film programmes, activities with artists, bubble soccer, free SnookerFeet games and much more with many venues distributing Flyers and Brochures to advertise events.
She said the Hazelhurst Art Gallery features a changing programme of events while children can also enjoy fun and stories at the libraries, fitness sessions at the Leisure Centre and surf safety being taught by lifeguards.

Mayor Pesce described it as a fantastic two weeks of school holiday fun and entertainment.
The Shire Kids Festival ends on July 17.
