Mayoral Ball to raise money for Sutherland Shire charity

Businesses around the Sutherland Shire area are being invited to sponsor a local charity event.

The Sutherland Shire Mayoral Debutante Charity Ball will be held in July. The annual event raises money for a local cause and this year will support the St George and Sutherland Medical Research Foundation. The Foundation raises funds for medical researchers based at the St George and Sutherland Hospitals.

The event was first held in 1940, when council records show that a ball was held to raise money for the war effort. Since then, a number of similar dances have been held to help local charities and organisations with more than $400,000 distributed.

At the event, which also includes a three-course meal and entertainment, young people from around the Shire will be introduced as debutantes. The chosen youngsters will also undertake fundraising for the Foundation.

Businesses are invited to sponsor the event or one of the debutantes taking part. It is being seen as a great opportunity for companies from Caringbah to promote themselves to the wider area, while also helping a good cause.

Printing services could be used to create promotional material to be distributed at the ball, and no doubt, the council will also help to advertise each sponsor.

The ball takes place on Saturday, July 19th, at the Sutherland Entertainment Centre. Tickets are on sale now. To discuss sponsorship opportunities contact the Council.
