Major upgrade underway at Seymour Shaw Park

A major upgrade to Seymour Shaw Park, near Caringbah, is set to begin following a recent onsite sod-turning ceremony.

As part of the project's first stage, a selection of improved and new facilities will be delivered. A new `Youth Active Sports Precinct' will also be included, together with a new skate park that will host two skate bowls. The innovations also include sculptural features that will be able to be used for climbing and parkour, as well as a synthetic softfall within a new kid's playground that will be fenced and include shaded social areas.

Mayor of Sutherland, Carmelo Pesce, is excited about having the opportunity to deliver improved and new facilities for the benefit of locals of all abilities and ages at such a popular location, adding:

“Whether local residents are out playing for fun or forging a path to greatness, Council is committed to ensuring they have access to the high quality facilities they need to train and compete, or simply to get out and enjoy an active lifestyle.”

Projects such as this latest park upgrade have often also included the installation of new Signs created by professional printing services.

In Stage Two the project will concentrate on the cricket, netball and soccer fields that will be re-levelled, as well as the replacement of the netball control room with a multi-purpose building. Car parking will be improved and the current cricket nets relocated.
