Major anchor tenant for South Village announced

Developers of the $700m South Village residential and retail project have confirmed that Coles will be the anchor retail tenant.

The development, which is set to benefit residents throughout the Sutherland Shire including Caringbah, New South Wales, will include a shopping centre, 749 apartments, and a community park.

A joint statement issued by developers PAYCE and DeiCorp estimated the cost would be $700m to redevelop the former Kirrawee brick pit into a “landmark mixed use development” that will now include the familiar Coles Logo Design.

Sales in the first residential stage have almost reached 80%, which developers claim was undertaken in “record time”.

According to the statement, the development, designed by leading architectural firm Turner, is set to turn heads as one of the City of Sydney’s most thriving and recognised community hubs in its southern suburb’s region. Its distinguishing factors will include the unique integration of retail and residential precincts.

DeiCorp’s Fouad Deiri predicted South Village will provide a true village and community atmosphere.

He said in addition to being a retail and residential hub, it will also continually be a driver of innovation and collaboration.

Deiri said the project’s driving force had also been its close proximity to beaches and a variety of public transport.

Dominic Sullivan, of PAYCE, said Coles would be the anchor of a convenience-focused retail precinct of about 10,000 square metres in an open mall.
