Caringbah residents are being asked to give their views on possible changes to the alcohol-free zone in the suburb.
Alcohol-free zones cover public areas and mean that while alcohol can be taken to the area, it cannot be consumed within the set boundaries. People who do not comply may have their liquor confiscated.
The bans have been in force for four years and the current zones expire in October. The Sutherland Shire Council is now reviewing its alcohol-free zones policy before re-establishing any areas and is asking residents for their comments as part of the process.
Once any changes are made, the council could use printing services to pass on the information to locals through a leaflet drop, or by using Signs around the suburb.
The Caringbah zone is one of 12 currently in place in the shire and covers much of the suburb’s commercial centre, including Kingsway, President Avenue, and Mackay Street.
Comments must be received by Friday, August 28th and can be made through the council’s online discussion forum ‘Join the Conversation’, which is available on its website. Comments can also be made in writing and posted to the council’s general manager.
