Festival puts focus on jazz and blues

Caringbah residents will soon be among many able to indulge their love for music with a visit to the nearby Cronulla Jazz and Blues Festival.

The four-day event, which kicked off for the first time last year, will see performances by over 100 artists who will take part in free concerts at local venues, in parks and at the Cronulla Plaza.

Some of Australia's most loved blues and jazz greats will be on the entertainment programme, such as Emma Pask, Jeff Martin, Leanne Paris, Ray Beadle, The Detonators, The Strides, Katie Brianna and Murray Cook (OG-Red Wiggle) with Lizzie Mack. Many have been featured on poster printing campaigns to promote individual tours around the country and have amassed a big following.

Among Australia's favourite jazz performers is Pask, who, at 16, was spotted by leading jazz performer James Morrison, who asked her to become lead vocalist with his band. They toured together for 20 years. Pask also performed at the wedding of Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman and is set to release her new Dream of Life album in mid-2022.

During the festival, live music will be presented each day at popular spots, including Monro Park, Cronulla Park and Dunningham Park, as well as at the plaza, while at nights, top venues will include Croydon Lane, Zinc Bar, The Brass Monkey and Cronulla RSL.

The event, which proved extremely popular last year, will be held from 2 to 5 June.
