Children in the Sutherland Shire can earn their fairy wings during the January school holidays when Miss Ashleigh from Smashed It Dance Company offers a four-week introduction to ballet.
Designed for children aged 2-5 years, the classes are be a fun way to introduce children to ballet, and participants will dance their way to help the Lilac Fairy find her missing wings. At the last of the four sessions, parents will be invited to sit and watch as the children present the story and show what they have learned.
Smashed It Dance Company was formed by Ashleigh Hill after she got overwhelmingly positive feedback from parents to a dance session she organised at the local playgroup her children attended. The emphasis is on fun, creativity and inclusiveness, so there is no expensive uniform, dance shoes are not required and parents are encouraged, not only to watch, but to join in if they like, especially with younger children.
Classes will commence in the week beginning Monday 7th January and run for 4 weeks. The 45-minute sessions begin at 10am and will be held at Studio A School of Performing Arts in Menai on Mondays, KC Dance and Drama in Caringbah on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Sutherland Multipurpose Centre on Saturdays. The cost will be $50 for four sessions. Events that operate at multiple venues often use banner printing to help people locate the activity.
