Course seeks to train new GymSports coaches

Gymnastics New South Wales are offering a course for those interested in becoming a coach in any area of gymnastics.

To begin coaching gymnastics, it is necessary to complete Beginner Accreditation and become registered as a Technical Member of Gymnastics Australia. The beginners’ course is not specific to any particular event. It aims to teach the fundamentals of how to coach and will cover such topics as how to structure a class to include a variety of movement patterns, different styles of coaching, and why warming up and cooling down are important. Participants will learn about coaching beginners and novices, helping them develop fundamental movement skills.

On successful completion of the course and accreditation as a Beginner Coach, course members will be qualified to coach under supervision, the first step on the coaching pathway.

Organisations running training courses often use the services of Stationery printers to create learning materials.

The training consists of two parts. Participants must first enrol online and then complete the Online Beginner course, which costs $100.

The face-to-face component of the course will be held at Caringbah YMCA, 5 Jacaranda Road, Caringbah on Sunday 26th May from 9am to 5pm. The cost for this is $150 and the closing date for enrolments is 10th May. Enrolments can be made online through the Gymnastics New South Wales website.
