Caringbah's Beauford Avenue Reserve and nearby Bonna Point Reserve in Kurnell are among 10 playground areas to receive upgrades as part of Sutherland Shire Council's recently announced investment in open spaces.
Work has recently begun on the Beauford Avenue Reserve playground, for which a detailed design was completed in November 2019, and includes new seating, bottle and drinking filter station, a play area with synthetic turf, and play equipment to suit various ages.
The $1.2 million playground at Kurnell has just been unveiled. It features skate facilities, new play equipment, bench seating landscaping and public amenities. The project's design had been shaped by community input, according to Sutherland Shire Mayor Carmelo Pesce who added:
“These new Bonna Point Reserve facilities are the result of close collaboration between Council and the local community, with the resulting upgrades really setting a new standard for community facilities across the Sutherland Shire.”
Facilities on offer at the Bonna Point Reserve playground now include one of the Shire's highest slides, a toddler play unit, multi-swing facility, extensive structure for rope climbing that also includes a sky pod, a skate ally and double flying fox.
Outdoor features such as this that suit all abilities and ages are often included on brochure printing aimed at providing local points of interest for visitors and residents.
Work on the Beauford Avenue Reserve is expected to be completed by June.
