Arts Minister Don Harwin said performances and new projects are the focus of the funding support, which also seeks to boost employment opportunities throughout the culture and arts sector. He said the latest 2021/22 funding allocations have provided financial assistance for 17 additional programmes across New South Wales, and he added:
“This funding will help establish solid foundations and create opportunities and career pipelines for emerging and professional artists and arts and cultural workers, strengthening the contemporary arts and cultural ecology of NSW.”
Sutherland Shire Council was among the successful applicants that presented plans for ambitious, strong and innovative programmes. The local funding will provide $80,000 to the Hazelhurst Arts Centre to present a selection of visual arts projects that will all be self-organised and incorporate outdoor installations and solo exhibitions.
Critical research displays that aid NSW arts workers and artists, together with a series of public and educational programmes, will also be a part of the local project.
Arts-related activities such as those proposed by the arts centre are often promoted through targeted flyer printing campaigns.
The 17 projects subject to the latest round of funding assistance are anticipated to boost the NSW economy by in excess of $10.4 million in jobs, services and goods, while also involving some 5,300 artists in activities that are expected to reach almost 960,000 people.
