2020 Seniors Festival to get underway

The 2020 programme for the annual Seniors Festival in Caringbah and across the Sutherland Shire is expected to be the event’s best yet, according to Mayor Carmelo Pesce.

This year’s festival will feature something to suit all interests, including educational talks and seminars, hobbies, art and craft, wellbeing and health events, films, entertainment and great outdoor activities.

Mayor Pesce said the Seniors Festival provided a great opportunity to recognise and celebrate the area’s seniors and their contributions to the community.

The Retirement and Recreation Expo, to be held on February 15 at Gymea Tradies, will be among the programme highlights and will give seniors a chance to connect and find out more about community clubs, groups and activities. Flyer printing is often undertaken to provide full details on the many events being held across the shire.

Mayor Pesce said everyone, including friends, grandchildren and children were welcome to attend the expo and added:

"It's an opportunity to see what the shire has to offer our retirees including gardening, exercise, computers, history, volunteering, music, Probus, Lions, Older Women's Network and more."

Another highlight of the annual festival will be the Seniors Luncheon, which will take place at the Sutherland Entertainment Centre on March 3 and will feature lunch and free entertainment.

A full programme of events for the Seniors Festival, to be held from February 4 to March 8, can be obtained from Hazelhurst Arts Centre, Sutherland Entertainment Centre, leisure centres or libraries.
