Die Cutting And A Cutter Plotter Create Awesome Gifts

Did you know the die cutting method and a cutter/plotter can create gift selections of various shapes and sizes? When you want bespoke gifts, they can cut puzzles, little lanterns, name signs, and more. Minuteman Press Pinetown can also create unique packaging for your gifts, as well as packaging for your products printed with your logo at cost effective rates. Let’s see what these cutting options can do for individuals and businesses.

Comparing The Cutter/Plotter And Die Cutting Methods

A cutter/plotter and die cutting use very different processes, but how do they work?

Die Cutting requires a wooden block to be manufactured with the metal blades to cut the shape and finer blades for the creasing or perforations. There is an initial outlay to manufacture the block and requires 2 to 3 working days to design. Die cutting requires setting up the block in the machine and aligning it for the die cutting process. A minimum run of 500 sheets generally applies, and the turnaround time is usually 3-5 working days.

A digital Cutter/Plotter does not require any blocks. It is managed from the application software on the computer that connects directly to the plotter. A minimum of one sheet can run, and turnaround times are much faster.

Benefits Offered By Die Cutting And A Cutter/Plotter

There are several benefits to using die cutting or a cutter/plotter to manufacture multi-shaped printing items such as boxes, tags, pockets and more. We discuss them in more detail.

  • Precision and consistency

Die cutting allows for the production of precise and consistent shapes and designs, which is important for many applications such as packaging materials and gaskets. The cutter/plotter will allow for accuracy with the use of registration marks scanned by the machine, before cutting and creasing.

  • Cost-effectiveness

Die cutting can be a cost-effective manufacturing process for large quantities of materials. Cutting with a plotter allows businesses to produce materials efficiently and at a lower cost compared to die cutting, even for smaller quantities.

  • Flexibility

Die cutting is a flexible process that allows businesses to create a wide range of shapes and designs, however, a block is required for each and every design. It is particularly useful for producing complex and intricate shapes that may not be possible with standard printing and trimming methods using a guillotine. As the Plotter is software driven, any design can be produced with ease, and there are no limitations to the shape required. Size limitations are based on the paper sizes.

  • Speed

Die cutting is an efficient process, allowing businesses to produce large quantities of high-quality products fast, meeting tight deadlines. A plotter can produce a cut sheet within minutes, making it super-efficient and fast for manufacturing boxes and more. An order can be completed within hours.

  • Versatility

Die cutting can be used to cut a wide variety of materials, including paper, cardboard, foam, rubber, and plastic, making it a versatile manufacturing process. The Plotter can cut various types of paper and fridge magnets. Did you know Minuteman Press Pinetown offers a range of display marketing materials such as branded umbrellas, gazebos, bunting, banners, and flags? Contact us for promotional items or gifts using the cutter/plotter or die cutting method.
