Mountlake Terrace lets the dogs out

A special event in Mountlake Terrace combines fun with a chance to meet a new family member.

Smidget Rescue is organizing Mountlake Terrace’s 2nd Annual Wag Fest, a free pet- and family-friendly event that aims to be a fun day out for all who attend.

Among the activities planned for the day are hands-on demonstrations, tail-wagging contests, and a short, 1.5-mile FitRun. Live music, food trucks, handmade items and more will be available.

Organizers expect approximately 5,000 guests to attend, both of the two- and four-legged kind, meaning the day will be suitable for celebrating the community as well as the pets that add so much to people’s lives.

Smidget Rescue will have adoptable dogs with them, and the animals will be on site for the entire day, so it is not necessary for people who are thinking of adopting a new family member to rush to be first at the event. There is no “first come, first served” aspect to the day, and no same-day adoptions will take place. Instead, the rescue’s policies dictate that potential adopters fill out an application, provide references, after which someone from Smidget will visit the applicant’s home. These measures protect both the potential adopter and the animal.

Wag Fest 2026 is scheduled for September 12 at Evergreen Playfield, located at 22289 56th Avenue West in Mountlake Terrace. Publicity for events like this can be created when organizers use poster printing methods to create advertisements to post prominently.
