Warwick mall to be revitalized

If things go as planned, the redevelopment of Warwick’s Rhode Island Mall will soon begin.

All that is needed to begin the work is a demolition permit from the city, which is expected to be granted in the near future, and also a review by the local fire marshal to ensure the plans meet fire codes and regulations.

In anticipation of the beginning of construction, fencing has been placed around the site. According to the mall’s current owner, MCB Real Estate, the plan is for the existing two story concourse in the mall’s west end to be demolished. MCB indicated that in the future, it will further renovate the space to make it more attractive to new retailers.

Burling Stores has signed on to be the new tenant of the revitalized mall. A printing firm can produce Presentation Folders that can be filled with information about the revitalized retail space. These can be used to promote it to potential new tenants, letting them know the advantages of locating their store there.

MCB, which is based in Baltimore, buys properties that are undervalued and improves them in order to make them more profitable. According to the company’s managing partner, Dave Frederick, the demolition portion of the work is expected to take three months, and the new Burlington Stores will hopefully open its doors about a year from now.
