Warwick area activity to introduce popular pastime

Birding is an activity that can be enjoyed alone or with family, and a Warwick area event will offer a fun way for those who are new to the hobby to get their feet wet.

Watchemoket Cove is home to a diverse range of avian species, and a hike that will take place at the site will visit them in person. It has been designed to be family friendly, and it will introduce the birds that make the location their home during the winter months.

The guided activity will be led by a subject matter expert, and both spotting scopes and binoculars will be supplied. The participants will also learn about various research projects that have been undertaken by the State of Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. Everyone who is interested can participate free of charge, and further details are available by contacting mary.gannon@dem.ri.gov.

Taking part in a visit to a birding site or another hands-on activity can offer a fun introduction to environmental stewardship. Field guides, birding tip sheets, and promotional Pens for a function can be ordered from local Print shops.

The Birding With Me session is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am, and the registrants are asked to meet up at the East Bay Bike Path before they head out. Registering for the activity can be completed online.
