Swensons now open in North Olmsted

Swensons, the iconic chain of hamburger restaurants that started in Akron, recently opened a North Olmsted location.

The chain opened its doors on Lorain Road in mid-August, after a week of serving customers during a “soft opening” period. The opening of the North Olmsted store is taking place at the same time that Swensons is getting ready to open a location in Avon, and is building a new store in Columbus—the first in that city.

Crystal Griffith, speaking on behalf of Swensons, said that anyone who grew up in or near Akron has probably heard of Swensons, but others may not be familiar with Swensons' curbside dining model. The chain is known for the “Galley Boy,” its signature dish, which is a double cheeseburger loaded with two special, homemade sauces.

Swensons consistently wins a high ranking among the best hamburger restaurants in the country. LeBron James, an Akron native who currently plays professional basketball with the Los Angeles Lakers, says Swensons is a favorite of his.

Swensons' employees say they're passionate about the food they make and work well together to bring their award-winning burgers to their customers. The Swensons' commissary delivers food to their restaurants six days a week, meaning they're working with fresh ingredients at all times.
