Rock-themed trade show to return to North Olmsted

The Parma Lapidary Club will hold another expo at the North Olmsted Soccer Sportsplex in May.

The 55th Annual Rock-A-Rama Jewelry, Arts, Rock, and Gem Event is a trade show where people can browse niche dealers who are familiar with geological, gemmological, and paleontological sciences. Attendees can find unique fossils, minerals, and gems at the conference and see live demonstrations of lapidary (stone- and gem-related) arts. Several businesses are confirmed to attend this year’s show, such as Ginger Mysteries, Dragon’s Hoard Minerals, and Rock and Road Rockhounding.

The Parma Lapidary Club is a group that wishes to get more people interested in earth sciences and the lapidary and metalworking arts. The group offers free workshops on making cabochons (shaped and polished gemstones) and hosts independent silver workshops for those with prior metalsmithing experience. Other classes from the club include Fantasy Wire Art-Animals and More with Marina and Silversmithing with Kristen Kuzma. People can become a member for $35 per year.

The Rock-A-Rama event will be held on Saturday, May 18 from 10:00am to 6:00pm and Sunday, May 19 from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Adults can pay $6 for access to the event on both dates. Children 12 and under can go into the expo for free. Clubs that hold similar trade shows to this may use brochure printing to make programs for their expos to distribute to attendees.
