Fairview Park to shut down community center for rework

During the month of August, community centers in Westlake, Rocky River, and Fairview Park will close for maintenance.

According to an August 10, news item, the three will close at different times, so members in good standing in a closed facility can visit one of the others until their preferred center reopens. This includes members of the Silver Sneakers senior groups.

However, patrons are advised to call the other centers to verify their schedules and policies. The exceptions to the “drop in” policy are water exercise classes and fitness classes, which require visitors to pay a “drop in” fee as appropriate.

While Fairview Park's facility, the Gemini Center, is shut down, members will be welcome at the Rocky River Outdoor Water Zone, or the WestLake Recreation Center, depending on their preference.

The entire Fairview Park facility will close down from August 24 through August 30, reopening August 31. The office will remain open August 20, 21, and 22 (Wednesday through Friday), shutting down on the August 23 and reopening August 24. The office hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on those days.

Since a lot of people could be affected by the shutdowns, staff members at the three centers might consider working with a flyer printing company on a mailer for area residents, giving them the schedule of the closings, and reminding them they can go to other centers when their own is closed.
