Art lovers in Fairview Park and throughout the area have a reason to smile, as the Lakewood Arts Festival will take place soon.
The 39th annual celebration will feature artists who have contributed their time and talent to this juried show.
The festival has become a regional tradition, with an average of 160 artists selected to participate. Local businesses fund the awards for the artists, which go to the Best of Show, as well as First through Fourth Place, Best New Artist, and Best Creative Presentation. Live music is also part of the fun, with entertainment provided throughout the entire festival.
The festival is run by the Lakewood Downtown Arts Festival, a nonprofit group, with the cooperation of Lakewood, as well as a number of volunteers. The festival is self-supporting, raising money from entry fees, sponsorships, donations, and sales of T-Shirts. Each year, a local artist designs a new shirt, which is then sold at the event.
Money over and above that used to put on the festival and fund the artists' awards goes toward scholarships and grants for people in the community. Lakewood, which is about five miles from Fairview Park, welcomes everyone to the traditional event.
The Lakewood Arts Festival is scheduled for August 6, from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm, on Detroit Avenue.
Organizations like these can benefit by working with flyer printing companies, which can create mailers announcing events.
