What's Happening in Cincinnati, OH…

Soul food restaurant scheduled to open in Colerain

The old KFC outlet on Colerain Avenue is in the middle of getting a facelift. The goal is to turn the former fast food joint into a Richie's Restaurant before the summer comes along.

Although Richie's shares a similarity with KFC in that both sell fried chicken, there are some big differences too. The soon-to-open Richie's will be the fifth store and is a family-owned business, with the newest location owned by Jelani and Danielle Jackson.

Richie's also has a greater focus on soul food offerings and serves up a range of fried fish options. Customers will be able to choose from catfish, cod, perch, tilapia, or whiting fish. Sides on offer will include yams, okra, collard greens, and beans and rice.

One feature at the new Richie's that will make it different to the four existing locations will be a seating area. Jelani Jackson, who also noted that people have been welcoming to the idea of the restaurant so far and that he is excited to open it to the community, told the Cincinnati Enquirer:

"We are aiming for a family-friendly sit-down place where people can come and enjoy a good meal."

The Jacksons could use a local printing company to help spread the word of the restaurant's grand opening event, which is tentatively scheduled for late May or early June.
